Rights & takedowns

How to get something taken off this site: your recording, your picture, or something of yours inside somebody else's track. Also how an artist takes down their own work, which needs no reason and no argument.

Last changed 9 October 2026

It is yours and you want it down

If you are the artist or the illustrator, you do not need a reason and there is nothing to argue about. Write to support@theflip.me from the address you sent it from, say which record, and it comes down within seven days. Usually the same day; seven is the promise.

If it has not aired yet we take it out of the running order before it does. If it has aired, everything on the site goes — the track, your page, the picture on the front — and the day’s video comes off our accounts on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. The one thing we cannot do is un-send the email that went out that morning, because it is already in other people’s inboxes, or take back a copy of the video somebody else saved.

It is yours and somebody else sent it

Every artist tells us the recording is theirs, the words are theirs, the samples are cleared and everyone who played on it knows. If that was not true of something on this site, tell us and we will take it down — that day, if it has aired. We do not ask you to argue it out with the person who sent it first.

The same applies to a picture on the front of a record, and to a photograph on an artist’s panel.

What to send

Enough for a person to act on it without writing back twice:

  • Where it is

The record number or the link — F017, or theflip.me/flip/F017 — and which track or picture on it.

  • What it is

What the work is and where it exists elsewhere, if it does. A link to the release, the catalogue number, the ISRC, or the original file.

  • Who you are

Your name, your connection to the work — you made it, you publish it, you act for whoever did — and an address we can reply to.

  • That you mean it

A line saying you believe in good faith that this use was not authorised. We are not asking for a sworn statement; we are asking you to have thought about it.

Send it to support@theflip.me with the record number in the subject line.

What happens, and when

  • We read it

By a person, the same day where the day has any hours left in it. There is no form and no ticket number.

  • We take it down first

If it has aired and the claim identifies the work, it comes off the site that day. We do not leave it up while we work out who is right.

  • We tell the person who sent it

What was claimed and by whom, because they are entitled to know and may be able to settle it in one sentence.

  • We tell you what happened

To the address you wrote from, with what we did and when.

  • If money was involved

A placement we took down on a rights claim is refunded to the person who paid it if it had not aired, and the account is closed if the rights statements were knowingly untrue.

If we got it wrong

If your work came down and it should not have, write to the same address and say why. If you are right it goes back up, and if it had not aired yet you get the next open date. Nobody at The Flip gains anything from a track staying down, so this is not a fight you have to win.

Where to write

support@theflip.me, for all of the above, read by a person.

There is no registered agent and no postal address, because there is no company — The Flip is one person in Argentina, and the Terms say so. Some countries offer a copyright holder extra protections only where a site has registered an agent with them, and this one has not. In practice it changes nothing about what happens to your complaint: a person reads it, and a claim that identifies the work takes it off the site that day.

If you need to know who you are dealing with in order to bring a claim, ask in that email and you will be told.
